About the Authority

The Civil Aviation Maritime Navigation and Homologation Authority is a public body having legal personality, with regulatory, accounting, organisational and administrative autonomy.

Our primary aviation legislation consists of Law No. 125 of 29 July 2014 (Law Reforming Civil Aviation) and established the CAA as an autonomous entity responsible for all technical matters related to civil aviation, in particular the promulgation of regulations in its area of competence. The Republic of San Marino is an International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Contracting State since 1988, and is also member state of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC). Our mission is to focus on aviation safety, security, efficiency. 

The Maritime Navigation Authority promotes the development of the San Marino maritime sector, in accordance with international maritime conventions and best practices recommended by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) through a competitive system in line with the most advanced safety and environmental protection standards. 

The Homologation Authority issues certificates of homologation of vehicles, components, technical units and vehicle systems in accordance with UNECE standards. In addition, it issues certifications for vehicles carrying perishable goods in accordance with ATP (Accord Transport Perissable), and it also release certificates for dangerous goods and their manufacturer as well as professional training attestations for drivers of vehicles carrying dangerous goods, in accordance with ADR (Accord Dangerous Goods).
